Born in Romania in 1988, Ioana Ilie has spent one year in England as the sole winner of the "C. Silvestri Scholarship" in 2005 and was awarded another 3-year scholarship by the Notenstein La Roche Private Bank in 2014. She has successfully completed both her Bachelor Degree and Teaching Diploma at the Music Academy Basel with Prof. Adrian Oetiker (piano), Prof. Balz Trümpy (composition) and Prof. Rudolf Lutz (improvisation). The Romanian has also enjoyed valuable input from distinguished names such as Stephen Kovacevich, Piotr Anderszewski, Jan Schultsz and Fabio Bidini. Described as a "master of improvisation" by the German newspapers, the Romanian mesmerises every audience with her unique talent in classical improvisation. She has toured throughout Europe, the US and Japan.
Ioana Ilie dedicates herself passionately to the vocal accompaniment and the chamber music, often collaborating with renown artists such as Adelina Oprean and Werner Güra. Also a tireless composer, Ioana‘s works have already been performed throughout Romania, the UK, Germany, Switzerland and the United States, where the CCC Music Company published her piano piece Pisces in 2017. Ioana’s newest composition, entitled The Clouds, can be heard on her debut CD released also in 2017, ON CLOUD TEN.
Ioana Ilie taught improvisation at the Music Academy Trossingen, Germany from 2011 to 2015 when she was appointed as a piano teacher at the Music Academy in Basel.
