CRR de Caen

Stéphane Béchy studied organ with Rene Brethomé, and Marie-Claire Alain's organ, harpsichord  with Davitt Moroney and Olivier Baumont. 

It occurs mostly in recital, in France, especially at Notre Dame, La Madeleine, Saint-Sulpice, festival of Les Blancs-Manteaux in Paris; Early Music Festival in Dieppe, Saint-Michel Thiérache Triforium's Cathedral Metz, Nancy Festival, Carcassonne Festival ; Austria, Tcheque Républic, USA, Serbia, Montenegro, Germany, Poland, South Korea, Russia, Armenia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Switzerland and the Netherlands. 

His knowledge of early repertories made him teaching students from the Conservatory of Rotterdam, at Northwestern University in Chicago, the University of Belgrade, the Conservatory of Prague, Brno Academy and the University of Seoul. He enjoys also playing with other musicians. Chamber music on the harpsichord, with organ, as solosist with orchestra, one could hear him with Jean-Pierre Arnaud, Laurent Verney, Vahan Mardirossian, Stéphanie-Marie Degand, Gudni Emilsson, Olivier Charlier,  Guy Touvron, Alexander Ghindin, Amélie Michel... 

With the “Amusemens du Parnasse”, he has created, Stéphane Béchy recorded two Masses of Michel Corrette in world premiere for the label Triton. He also engraved solo works by Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Liszt and Saint-Saens. 

Live or through his recordings have been heard on various radio stations in France and abroad, including France Musique and France Culture. 

Stéphane Béchy is one of the few performers to have given the complete organ works of Bach in concert (17 recitals in Paris, 2001-2002). 

After having held the Great Organ in the Cathedral of Soissons and in Paris Saint-Ferdinand des Ternes, Stephane Béchy currently holds the Great Historic Organ (Clicquot, Cavaillé-Coll, Gonzalez) of Saint-Merry in Paris; prestigious place shown in the past by Nicolas Le Begue, Jean-Francois Dandrieu, Nicolas-Gilles Forquerais, Gervais-François Couperin and Camille Saint-Saens. 

Stéphane Béchy  has been (1999-2016) artistic director of Orchestre de Caen , Festival of Contemporary Music "Aspects des Musiques d'Aujourd'hui" and of the “Festival International d'Orgue de Caen” he created. He is artistic director of "La Dive Musique" festival of ancient music in Seuilly.

Stéphane Béchy is knight in the French National Order of “Arts et Lettres”.
